Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

it has a really big beard actually! i just was stroking it under the neck to relax it. Are you guys sure? its 2 months old? and only the comb is pink, not even red? the women who gave it to me said it was a hen. someone told me that she was a girl because by now the comb would be bigger. i noticed that she does not have as much muscle as i would expect, i think the women who gave her to me has not fed her well for weeks. her neck barley has muscle.

The comb and tail.Tail feathers look to be getting longer and more pointed.A pullet usually has very little comb or color at that age.

Really? Thats pretty cool! I'm afraid for the ameraucana though. It has very little mucles and is not eating. The only thing he ate is mealworms. I almost didn't find his crop it was so empty. Should I separate it from the serama who keeps pecking him?

They will kill him. Always separate a sick bird. Is this a new bird too? You should always quarantine new birds for 30 days. If it something contagious he can pass it to other birds very easy.

Pretty excited about my newest Ameraucana chicks! One Lavender (Lila) and two Wheatens (Pancake & Waffle). They are ridiculously adorable little things.

Okay.... I'm continuing with my pictorial log of the 3 wheaten chicks. They are 4 weeks old now. Their personalities and energy keep growing right along with their little bodies!

In this post I'm only going to show you what Honey looks like at 4 weeks because he/she was the only one Pips&Peeps (Jean) was reserving judgement on as to boy vs girl. I put in a third "pose" of the really fluffy bunns because it looks SO much like my layers.

Are fluffy bunns indicative of anything at this very young age???

(as always, please click to enlarge)

For anyone following along with the full set of 3 chicks, I'll post those in a little while, once I've put together the collage.
