Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

My lavenders are really kicking in into high gear this season. All these years raising ameraucanas and I have never had such a productive flock. If I could just get the wheatens on the same track!

I think the fact that most Lavs haven't been tightly line bred yet, is aiding in productivity.
 
Mine still have a tendency to go broody though. I don't mind it- it means they keep laying through winter and less work for me hatching chicks.
Forgot to mention- those eggs are from a line that was outcrossed to Marans a couple years back.
 
It is working great. I kept some non-cuckoos from my project and they are al silver based, nice pale lav. The feathers are buttery soft and do not fray at the ends. I am still trying for a roo with the great feathers though. Maybe this time we'll get one.
