Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I bought some Ameraucana eggs from a local breeder & hatched 2- I believe they r silvers. I bought some pullets from a farmer- but believe they are really EE's. Can ne experienced breeders tell from these pics? My 2 hatched 3 days ago and the othrs r abt a week old. Either way, they r sooo sweet. Btw, the 2 I hatched were from blue eggs.

This is Adrianna (or Adrian)- I'm hoping a true Ameraucana?

This is Darcy- the othr I hatched and hope is also true Ameraucana.

I think the person asking abt 'Brown Ameraucana' is prolly talking abt an EE like this one-

Cocoa

Here are the other 'Ameraucana's' tht I got yest (abt week old)- wuld love opinions on whether these r true or EE's

Hi dancingnancy, those don't look quite right for true silver chicks. I can't tell if it's because of the lighting or if they truly are that orange-y color, but a silver chick should look like the ones on the Ameraucana website. They should have distinct markings on their backs of dark brown, black, and white stripes. In the first picture you shared, it doesn't appear that the chick has that. Silvers are pretty hard to come by. I've been trying to get a flock of them going for about 2 years and have had chicks and eggs shipped and all I've got is my one Silver hen. I'm not sure why they aren't more popular because they are pretty and you can tell the sexes apart pretty quickly once they feather in.

Well you have a whole bunch of really cute Easter Eggers there, except the top two.

Those don't even look like Easter Eggers, their coloring is completely wrong and their faces aren't fuzzy. I would guess.. Campines? Definitely not Ameraucanas, sorry. Did you see the parents of your eggs? What color where they? Oh, and where the eggs blue? Those may be crosses of something, I have never seen an EE chick marked quite like that - or with that bright orange color.

The chicks closest to Silver are the last two - but their coloring isn't quite right. It looks like golden, and that isn't a correct color. And seeing the others you got from that batch I would say you are correct in guessing all of those are Easter Eggers.

The Brown chick is wrong for Brown/Red Ameraucanas, but right for Easter Eggers. Brown/Red Ameraucana Chicks are black and white, no brown anywhere on them.

Hi
I bought some of the most beautiful blue hatching eggs from a lady who only has Ameraucana chickens in her farm; no other breeds at all. The problem is she has all the different colorings (BBS, Silver, etc...) all in the same pen, so her hens are being covered by different coloring roosters.

Would my chicks still be considered "true" Ameraucanas or will they be considered Easter Eggers?

If they are mixed without a specific breeding plan, they are Easter Eggers. They will not breed true the 50% of the time necessary by club rules to be called Ameraucana. If you cross Silver into B/B/S it messes everything up for about 3 generations until you cull out all the wrong colored ones... If she has Wheaten/Blue Wheaten and Buff in there you will have a real mess.

Thank you ChickNmamma. That's what I thought, but wanted to make sure. I was mostly looking for the blue egg coloring so they are perfect for me, but being that I have too many some will have to be sold. I don't want to mislead my customers into thinking they are buying true Ameraucana's, when in fact they are EE's.

Thinking this 3 week old Wheaten is a cockerel. Can anyone confirm/disprove?
