Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I am in search of Wheaten or Blue Wheaten Ameraucana chicks to give this poor little lone baby some company. I guess it's what I get for ordering shipped eggs but I thought I would at least get two :(.

Being as I ended up paying $30 for one chick I'm not willing to take that risk again. After looking for 6+ months I thought I had finally struck gold... lol not! I have emails out to everyone I can think of. Jean, do you know of anyone who is still hatching?

I had the same experience with blue wheaten AMs. One hatch of 8 eggs produced one BW cockerel. A second hatch of BW AMs produced a single crippled chick with both feet curled inward. The last one was culled of course.

So I bought some Wheaten chicks from a reputable breeder. In this purchase, I ended up with two pullets and three cockerels. I plan to keep one cockerel and both pullets. Although one pullet has not developed muffs or a beard, she has won my heart. If I am out in their area, she will fly up to perch on my arm or shoulder & rest there while I walk around. She will chirp at me & patiently wait while I get some feed to eat from my hand.

I bought them off eBay from Pokey Poultry. I believe her name was Lisa. Beautiful birds I thought.

I have emailed literally everyone who ships chicks on the directory, plus dug through lots of websites. Hopefully I can find a buddy for the poor baby.

My first batch of BW Ams came from Pokey Poultry off of eBay, as well. That one roo is still very friendly and has spectacular colors.

LOL - I have a neighbor who is a fly fisherman who desperately wants some of his hackle feathers for tying flys.
