Last week I saw 6 W/BW hens and a BW Roo flock sold for $250 here. 2nd season.
Also, a quad of black AMs go for $150 (1 roo, 3 pullets at POL.)

OK, question for the thread...I have a wheaten Ameraucana rooster that has brown in his tail. This is a pure Wheaten Ameraucana boy and I would like to use him for breeding but can not find if the brown in the tail is a fault or a dq. Can someone give me some input? He is a very mellow boy as to the reason he still has those spurs. I love his temperament and have recently obtained and hatched eggs from his line(Ramey) which one of the young cockerels I got from that hatching has the brown feathers too(and the only cockerel without feather sprigs on the legs). I would appreciated input....

So does no one know whether the brown in this birds tail feathers is a dq or a fault? Is there a breeder on here with Wheaten?

That is red, not brown. That is just a fault. He really has a nice black beard and other good traits, so I wouldn't keep him from a program unless you had something better. I would use him with unrelated hens.

Thank you for your advice and information! I will take your advice and try to get another line of Wheaten this coming year--do you have any recommendations? I am not real happy with the chicks I hatched this season as so many of the birds have pretty good defined feather sprigs on the legs. I rescued this guy from a family member that got some chicks several years ago and just wanted the hens for blue eggs. I really like his personality and the personalities of the Wheaten chicks I have raised this season. Very mellow birds!

WOW, she is really nice. Love that body shape, short legs, tail angle, and coloring. Though her beard is a bit... "dangly,' to be scientific about it

Love her color and lacing...very very nice..I see no smudges or smuttiness at all..very hard to do. Uniform color....nice..Actually she is very ugly and you should pack her up and send her here.

delisha, I am sure my hubby would gladly send her your way. She is flighty, so not his fave of all the chickens we have.

You are right- they have great temperaments. The lavs are the same way, but more broody.

You can put your order in now with Paul Smith. Seems like if you only get a small order you will probably get them sooner in the season. I have a few BW from them and they are really nice. Not sure if Wayne Meredith is still shipping chicks, but he had a HUGE flock to accommodate so...I would try them. I like the birds I got from Wayne a few years back as well.

I do know paul smith is now accepting orders. there is a minimum of 10 chicks.
