Hopefully they were all pure ams, and the ones added in for the winter were just females not males. it's better to stay optimistic than be pessimistic.

I don't know who you are buying from but I just purchased some BBS AM that had EE in the pen as well. They are obvious and easy to tell apart. None of the EE are BBS in color, they are all red or white tones. So if it is the same person, you'll have no trouble at all!

Hello everyone! I thought this might be the best place to pose my question. Please excuse my ignorance, especially if this has already been discussed to death.
I notice that pretty much everyone who orders Ameraucanas gets EEs. Is there any sure way to get the right birds? I have my first set of chicks which I got from a local ranch and after trolling the forums I seriously doubt that is what I have. I'm in love with the look of the ameraucana and so want more than just blue eggs. I'm starting to think I'll never get to have one.

Chances you'll get TRUE ameraucaunas from a hatchery are VERY slim, unless you order from a hatchery that focuses on rare breeds or show quality. The best way to get a true breed is to buy them from a breeder or buy hatching eggs from a member of this forum.

May I ask what your fav thing is about this breed and what others you love too?

I personally originally wanted them for the Blue eggs and those beards and muffs are just too cute! LOVE my Ams. I loved my EE too so don't be too hard on them.

its one of the best breeds, because they keep their puppy face

I always loved there beards. I also love chickens with blue lacing and I think that color on ameraucanas just looks amazing. Then their is the while rare factor. I also enjoy their personalities. Let see other breeds.....Plymouth rocks (heritage), my little d'uccle girl I have is very sweet, Old English Game Bantams, I could go on-I enjoy lots of breeds for different reasons. But my favorites would have to be ameraucanas, Plymouth rocks, an Easter eggers if you are considering them to be a breed
