Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

They were sold as "americauna". I have read that americauna and EE are similar.
How can you tell they are EE? I have seen in another thread someone who has identical chicks and she called the americauna.

The confusion is because all the hatcheries except one dropshipper that I know of, sell their Easter Eggers, a mixed breed that has similar features to the true Ameraucana, as Ameraucanas, but they sometimes misspell the word. That is false advertising and they refuse to quit. Ideal, McMurray, Privett, Mount Healthy and others all do it and none of them have Ameraucanas. Some even go so far as to call them "Ameraucana/Araucana" and an Araucana is a VERY rare breed, a separate breed, and does not look like an Ameraucana. They don't have those, either, of course. We have all been frustrated with them, trying to get them to change it but they won't.

I'd consider Meyer a smaller hatchery, but if they have true blue Ameraucanas, that's a huge increase/improvement over the past. Good to hear it.

ETA: I went to their site and yep, they do! Fabulous news!

The top 3 are pullets and the bottom 2 are cockerels. I'm not too sure about the middle ones but I'm leaning towards pullets.

Oh it would be ideal if those middles were pullets. Truthfully, I can't tell the difference between the top three and the last one. I mean, I don't see what makes the bottom one a cockeral and the top ones pullets. They look the same to me. Is it because more blue is showing in the wing feathers? The second to last is obviously a wheaten and I can see it being a cockeral. Do you think the fourth picture is a splash wheaten?

Interesting. I checked their website and looked at the pictures and now I have to wonder if those really are their birds. The picture of the blue andulasian I have seen before at another website, Gabbard farms. Someone is sharing pictures it seems.

I have 2 from them I thought that they gave me a black and a splash but the black is feathering out as a nice dark blue. The splash started out with very pale legs but at 2 1/2 weeks old they are starting to darken up. I ordered t EE from them as well and one of them is white. The first day I could not tell the what was the splash and what was the EE! But now they don't look any thing alike.

My first flock of chickens were purchased from Meyer's. I didn't know anything about breeds or breeding. I still have these hens and am very pleased with their lovely feathering, temperment, egg production and health.

They take their own pictures and send emails to those that have purchased chicks to send in photos of their chickens for use in their website and catalog.

Definitely a step in the right direction. I have heard of people getting some whites from them, which I find odd since they don't carry that color. Who knows. I thought they had another color too. Wheaten maybe? I will have to look later

I don't know if those are their birds or where they got the pictures or the stock. At least the write up shows that they know the difference between Ameraucanas and Easter Eggers. That's more than we've seen in the past, certainly. My BBS Ameraucanas came from a friend who had Cree Farms stock and sent me the hatching eggs from California, though Lisa Cree isn't currently breeding her Ameraucanas in order to concentrate on her other livestock.

Wahoo!!! I finally have a true Ameraucana!!! Thanks to Mstrawn3 for the beautiful BBS Ameraucana eggs!
I have two out now but am trying real hard not to disturb the broody too much!
