two blue birds bred together will produce blue, black, and splash.

That answers my question I clicked on this thread to ask how 2 blue hens and 1 blue roo and I had light blue dark blue splash and black chicks hatch. Thanks

I've raised BBS Orps, Ameraucanas and Plymouth Rocks so am very familiar with blue genetics, but terms folks use make no sense to me. What is a "light blue splash" and a "dark blue splash"? Splash is basically a pearly white bird with some accent feathers, not a blue bird. I don't understand why people say "blue splash". It's either blue or it's splash and splash is not blue. If it's blue, it is not splash- even if the blue bird has some darker blue feathers, it's still just blue. A blue will often have one or two darker blue feathers in the plumage, but still, it's a blue.

Sorry for confusing you I did not mean light blue splash I meant light blue and a darker blue and a splash 3 different colors.I just did not understand how 3 blue birds could produce the other colors. The adults came from a breeder so I am pretty sure they are good birds

Yes, blue is a great color since you can get three colors from it, all genetically black birds, but with the addition of one or two blue genes, it washes out the plumage, to blue if you add one blue gene, or splash with the addition of two blue genes.

I didn't know that blue was a black dilution. That is very interesting!

Yup, I love the blues, which is why I've had them in all three of my main breeds. And blue itself comes in so many shades from extremely light to so dark, it's hard to tell if it's black or blue.

What color are their legs? The reddish/white ones look like my sex links, and the pure white one you have looks like an EE I picked up at our local feed store (white with green legs). My sex links (yellow feet)

My white EE- Sold as an ameraucana (green feet) think they should be slate if AMs.

Where did you buy them and what did they say they are ? They look like EE carrying dominant white to me . Dominant white removes black better than red . So if they were at a feed or farm store they are EE and without dominant white the white areas would be black . What color beak does the white one have ?
