Here is a better picture of his face and very pink comb and here is a picture of his girlfriends face.

Yes, that is a splash and very likely is a rooster. Mate him with that black and you will get blues. Looks nice.

7 of my 10 chicks were sold as Araucana, but the more reading I do, I think they are Ameraucana or Easter Eggers. How do you tell the difference? Some have the cheek feathers, some don't, but they all have tail feathers/rump, which seems to be what defines Araucana. Their coloring is a complete mix, none of them is one solid color.

It doesn't really matter to me if they are one breed or another, I am only raising them for eggs, but I am just curious as to why there seem to be 3 breeds that all could be my chicks...

I have to get some more recent photos, but these will do for now.

There are 3 Buff Orps in there with the mystery birds...

I also have 3 EE that look just like my Ameruacana hen except a week younger. I think they are 3/4 Ameruacana.

I also have an EE roo with a comb that is a solid grey color.

Does anyone know what I would get of I crossed him with my black Ameruacana hen?

They are easter eggers..... not a breed really.... they are mixed birds. The one in the top pic with black and white is most likely a cockerel too.

Hi!, My name is Sandra, I am a new member looking for Ameraucana chicks or pullets to buy. I specially looking for the Blue Wheaten, Wheaten, White, Splash, and Lavender breeds. I only need 7 or so females if possible, no roosters as I can´t have roosters. I live in Cottonwood, Arizona, and I am willing to pick up if in the area. We love our chickens, we are vegetarians, and so far I am not having a lot of luck in finding a breeder in the area or just a breeder that gets back to me. This is my hobby, I used to have chicken here in the US before we moved to Spain. In Spain I was not able to find Ameraucanas, and now that we are back, we are very excited to get our chicken world in our lives again. Can anyone in this forum help in any way, maybe I can buy from somebody or even just pointing me in the right direction. Thank you so much for any help.

I live in Tucson but I have Blk blue and blue wheatens. The breeder I purchased from lives here in Tucson as well but they have great lines and I would recommend them. If you want more info pm me. Good luck.

I finally got the courage to let my almost four-month old Ameraucanas outside. I let out twelve--I hope I put twelve to bed tonight! I have a hyper vigilant rooster (and his three hens) out with them. I hope they stick around him.

I love the way they leap up in the air and try to fly as far as they possibly can. It is in the 90s, so they got tuckered out pretty quickly.

I really like the splash pullet below, but I'm a sucker for anything splash.

Hi!,
Yes, please. I would love to have the contact info for the breeder you know in Tucson, it sounds like the way to go. It is a 4 hour drive from here but maybe he can send them with a carrier.
I am looking forward to your response. Thank you again.

You can get day old chicks mailed to you.
