Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Here are some pics of the AMs I have been showing. This isn't that show that they placed 1st, BV, and RB in. It was another show, hints the 2nds on some of the placing cards. Most wouldn't pose

Very nice!

Especially love the splash. Someday I will get some!

Today I took some pictures of the two pullets I hatched out and kept this year. Crazy thing is, I sold all the eggs and chicks I hatched and only kept these two for myself. Wishing I had kept more! These are out of two pure Cree line pullets I hatched out last year from another breeder. I had a feeling they would mesh well with my Pips&Peeps x Paul Smith line rooster.

Aren't these just lovely!

Can one of you(or several lol) give me some input on these chicks i bought them as eggs and pure but.. some questioning is coming out.. i did put them under an EE hen so if you see her in the background they are NOT her babies by blood lol

Here half of the hatch..

Thank you!
Going to Quote my own post as i have spoken at great length with my breeder... she has stated to me the first bird is likely a "sport" throwback etc.. the birds are PURE and kept separate. While i realize this maybe thought as some well, of coarse the seller will claim this, the person is of high regard so for it to be otherwise was unlikely to begin with that said i know how confusing the breed can be to decipher.

As chick #1 is maturing i am most definitely leaning towards the "silver" that another member mentioned.. i found this pic on an Ameraucana club site and i think this is the route this baby is going the background is darkening intensely each day and the foreground lightening and the chick pic resembles it completely.

So that is my update, looking forward to seeing how they grow out, i'll update down the road for the results.

By sport, I thought that was meant to mean a white that pops up "randomly"?

I cannot say, i am only going by her wording perhaps it's being used loosely but regardless she assures me these are pure as a matter of fact she does NOT own any Easter eggers. I am not out for debate just felt i should update my own findings after a lengthy discussion on the birds.

I will again update how they mature...

Have you asked the breeder what variety they are? I have spoken with breeders that do not know what 'variety' means, they just know they were sold 'pure' Ameraucanas. If the breeder does not know the variety, they are most likely not Ameracuanas.......
