Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have a couple of pictures I want to post and see if anyone can tell me what they think about them. I was told that the chicken is an Ameraucana and that she laid blue eggs and I have never gotten a blue egg from her. Maybe something close to pink but no blue or green. Anyone have any thoughts what she is. I had an egg this morning that was so light it looks white and she might have laid it. Not sure. Just curious what anyone thinks. That is the best picture I have of her.

Some type of mixed bird. It's not an ameraucana. She even has wattles. Her body shape looks wrong to me.

Just wanted some outside opinions of one of my roosters. I'm just starting to breed and this is the start of my flock. I have him with 2 blues and a splash pullets

looks like a really good place to start...a very small piece of advice...watch the tail set...might just be his attitude at the time, but it looks a little high......

I was worried about that. I have been trying to find one closer to a 45° but it's proving to be difficult. A couple of my pullets seem to have lower tails I'm hoping to breed it out but I hear that it's difficult.

There are a lot of good birds around your location....check the ABC breeder's directory...there is also a notice of several shows coming up in NC. this month......would you be interested in a blue cockerel???

I bought some "purebred" Amerucanas only to find out when I get there that she didn't have her colors separated. She only had photos of blues and blacks online. I didn't know enough at the moment to know better and I left with a dozen chicks. 4 black, 4 Wheaton, 3 blue Wheaton, and one blue. She said that the rooster would have been either a blue or a Wheaton and I didn't ask about the hens. Everything that was said to be Wheaton or blue Wheaton looks EE. Out of the four blacks two appear to be Extended black. So my question is... without knowing what the color of the hens were is there a way to tell if any of my blacks could be pure? If I bred the extended they should produce b/b/s right? I have learned an important lesson here and next time I will refer to the list of ABC breeders. Thanks for any help.
