Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

If you own the animal why not just take another photograph of it thereby avoiding any complications. That is what I would do I love my chickens so much I take photos like crazy to get them from every angle at every age and stage of life. Then if one photo is sent I have more than one image of it to use as I please if the other image is used by the ABC. Life doesnt have to be so hard...
*I am by no means trying to cause an uproar nor am I trying offend or criticize. I am just simply stating my humble opinion.
LOL I'm sure most breeders do exactly this, but since you've taken pics of chickens you certainly understand getting that 'perfect' shot isn't an easy thing with a critter who doesn't understand "turn your head just a little to the right"

Sounds to me honestly, like the 'club' is setting themselves up to lose a lot of participation. IF I was a breeder, I be danged if I'd let them borrow a picture only to be sued later for 'copyright infringement'. Seems the best thing to do would be just let them go out and take pics of their own birds

The entire site, and all the images, text, documents, are protected under copyright law as filed with the Library of Congress earlier this year. So, any images that are posted to the site are automatically covered. The issue is not whether we have permission to use it or not, but whether someone has permission/authority to copy it from the site and use it elsewhere.
so if someone sends you a COPY of their picture and gives you permission to use it on your site, and then they use their own picture somewhere else, they didn't copy it from your site. Sounds to me like y'all have really set yourselves up to lose participation.

And I see by some posts above there's a new 'club' starting up anyway, so Susan (got it from looking at your user profile here btw, NOT hard to do at all) y'all expecting to lose any members to them? I can name at least one person who has replaced his bookmark of your site with theirs.......... because well, you know, you can't please everyone

who is Justin? certainly not me............you have me confused with someone else. the 'Chaz" part of my name there should be a clue, just like if you click my user name and view my profile it clearly says my name is Charles.......and of course, you don't have my permission to use my name in anything, I need to learn how to do that watermark thing you speak of......

Either way, yeah you can please everyone, and from what I understand, y'all not pleasing to a lot of people lately....

My apologies, Charles, for getting your name wrong.

This will be my final post on the issue of copyright pictures.

When you send a picture to the Ameraucana Breeders Club for use on the website, if it is used:
  • It will be watermarked and uploaded to the site. That watermarked copy then becomes the property of the Ameraucana Breeders Club and any unauthorized use of that image is a violation of copyright law.
  • There will be no credit given as to where, or from whom, the picture came.
  • We will make the determination whether to use it or not. Those not used immediately may be reserved and used at a later date.

The copy of the image that you retain, without the watermark, is yours to do with as you please.

The images that are currently on the Ameraucana Breeders Club site are all now protected under our copyright. If you have submitted an image and wish to have it removed or wish it to be returned, please send a list of those pictures and on what date they were sent to [email protected].

I am aware of the new club. We have quite a few that are members of both and welcome the competition that two clubs bring. :)

Well, I finally got some new photos of some of my guys today! It was super windy, and muddy, but it was nice to be out taking pictures. Please excuse thier condition, especially the Lavender Pen's tails. Silly birds are roosting on a beam about 5 inches away from the chicken wire behind them

. Not everyone (including my split rooster) wanted to come out and play today, but here is a sampling.

Blue Silver Pullet and Cockerel

These are gorgeous! I have a pullet that I just hatched from a Blue Ameraucana cock and a silver colored EE hen that looks kind of similar to these. Except mine seem to have more white. Here she is a little over 2 months old.

I think she's the pretties thing ever. I no longer have the lighter blue colored Amer cock that sired her, but I do have a dark blue Amer cock that I will cross with the same silver colored EE to try and get more that look like this pullet.
