Ok here they are! The black is huge but no tail feathers to see how he will be! Tha splash had his face plucked by the hens! The blacks are jet black but turned out white spotted in the pictures! The black with no tail is massive! Like a eagle!
I just now got back, had to deliver some fruit that my daughter sold for her AG class! WOW! Their beautiful! I really like them! The massive black is impressive! He just has a look about him! I like them all but I really like him and the lavender? one! I think they look really good. How old are they? they are all giants so their not even done turning into the beauties that they are! Do those big ones give u trouble handling them if u have too? Where are your chicks coming from this Spring? You know! The ones coming pony express?!!?

Well, I have to say I am very excited!

This past summer and fall here in good ol' South Carolina have been very wet times, indeed. After the second swamping of pens and coops, hubby decided we needed to do something about and started building new coops!

So..here is the beginning of the new coops. There will be 4 of these, attached to 8 x 8 covered pens.

The back

The front

Here is the first one, set in place. Just have to finish the shingles, some paint touch ups, and finish closing it in.

I have to say - the chickens are loving these new coops, too! I went out and put them in the first night and haven't had to "tuck them in" again!

From inside the pen

Right side - still needs finishing wire, shingles, and paint touch ups

Inside the coop

When these are all done - next up are the new conditioning pens!

Those are awesome! You know it's been too much rain when you put houses on stilts in Aiken ;)

Thanks! I'm sure happy with them.

We put these on 4" concrete pads!. We are sitting on a massive sandy ridge and usually do not have drainage issues - but these past few months, I couldn't keep the water moving out fast enough. At least now, the birds will all have a nice dry place to get out of the weather.

The old coops were sitting on the ground and water was blowing in under the roofs...it was a mess.

Of course, with all these new coops, the original, big coop had to have a re-paint. It was originally built in 2011 and was looking quite faded.

When it was new:

With the re-painting begun -
Ignore the jacket hanging on the fence post - I thought it was chillier. lol

The blacks and the smaller lav are 4 months old. The older lav and splash is close to 6 months now! The ones that I am getting by pony express are from Paul Smih.
