Thank you both for appreciating my egg with me...... where else would someone get this kind of support!  

My 4 year old is very enthusiastic and supportive. Kids are awesome for support (until they get to a certain age, from what I hear)

My first egg. It is sitting in a bowl of store bought eggs. It is so small! e

Its a beautiful shade of blue! How sweet it is!

1 white with gray
1 white with copper
1 solid peachy white

Very impressive! They are all so nice!! are the two dark ones from black copper merans? (sorry if spelled wrong)

Yes, and it is spelled Marans, always capitalized, because it is named after a town and region on the west coast of France.

I have a few questions, this pullet is about 9 to 10 weeks. Her head and neck feathers are much darker than the body. Is that considered unfavorable? Should I work on getting the color and feathers to be more uniform when I hatch from these birds

in the spring?

Thank you for the correction, that is interesting! I didnt like those birds the first time I ever saw them but they have been growing on me I wish I could find a couple for my flock! I really like those dark brown eggs!

I noticed on the Ameraucana.org gallery page that some of the baby chicks pictured have orange legs. Do they change to slate colored as they get older? Or are those chicks not Ameraucanas?

I totally agree, but the good news is that breeder quality is far superior to feed store chicks. It's all about having a proper starting point
