Here is today's gathering, with the blues and greens mixed in.....

I have a few questions, this pullet is about 9 to 10 weeks. Her head and neck feathers are much darker than the body. Is that considered unfavorable? Should I work on getting the color and feathers to be more uniform when I hatch from these birds

Yes, and it is spelled Marans, always capitalized, because it is named after a town and region on the west coast of France.
Thank you for the correction, that is interesting! I didnt like those birds the first time I ever saw them but they have been growing on me I wish I could find a couple for my flock! I really like those dark brown eggs!
 
I noticed on the Ameraucana.org gallery page that some of the baby chicks pictured have orange legs. Do they change to slate colored as they get older? Or are those chicks not Ameraucanas?
