Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I just thought this was a cool shot of my rooster mid crow

Yep...definitely a nice boy!

Thanks, Susan. One day I'm going to get around to PMing you and see what it takes to get one ready for a show. I'm just afraid of getting bitten by another bug

I'll be happy to help all I can, but realize my first chicken show was this past October! lol

Hmmm... so they are flighty and have poor production. That's a bummer. Has everyone had similar experiences with the Silvers? Is it because of a smaller gene pool or maybe in certain lines?

Well I just had a hen go broody so I might just stick with my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten plan and find some hatching eggs near me. It sounds like they have a better package to offer. Anyone know of good quality eggs with in driving distance of Eatonville, WA?

I don't know where Eatonville is, but, there are breeders of wheaten and blue wheaten in Washington, Idaho and Oregon. So, I would check these two sources:

http://ameraucanaclub.org/

http://ameraucana.org/

Go the the Directory at each link and a list of breeders/state will come up and you can see the varieties they have and their location, contact info, etc.
