Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I couldn't find any lavenders when l first started searching so I went with my three colors. I'm real excited!
Well, my point is that these birds are so pretty, you quickly fall into chicken math and want more and more. I have two large pens that in the next day or so will be 4. Then, I have my general layer house.

What if someone wants to know where to find a breeder of a certain variety? Can we tell them where to look without providing a link?

We can link to other websites, such as a breeding club site, but not to other forums, is my  understanding.

X2. You can link to breed clubs, breed facts pages, any other info type pages, but no other forums or links that contain advertisments to their products. :)

It is common for blue wheatens to have leakage or ticking.  Do you have a standard?

Yes, he is a standard LF. Is that what you ment?

No, do you have a standard of perfection?

I have read over the breed standard on the the breed websites. Is there something discussing specifically Wheatens? That would be a life saver! It's hard searching hear and there and getting bits and pieces and then putting the puzzle together. Do I know personally what I want to focus on in my breeding? Not YET. I do have some ideas however.

This guy has more going for him than against him. There is worse out there. His hackles are clean and tail look clean. Hard to find perfect males, and his bleed is not excessive. If he is the best you have, I would use him. Put your best female with him and grow out some males to see what you get..

I do not have any hens for him right now and he is the only one I have.. I have 14 eggs ordered and cooking in someone else's incubator. A different Wheaten breeder in WA might have some hens/pullets available. It sounds like they might pair nicely with my cockerel.
