Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

First hatch of the year going into lockdown tomorrow!!  :fl

I'm a bit disappointed in the viability of one of my black pens, but I'm sure it will get better with it warming up now.  My wheaten/blue wheaten pens have great viability!  :bow

Can't wait to see little fluffy butts running. :cd
Me too!

Do you have any Ameraucanas yet or will these be your first!?
How many chicks hatched for you yesterday? The pics I saw were adorable! Did the one little one dry off & keep "her" (we want a girl!) silver coloring?! How soon do u get them from Sc?
Oh and Happy Valentine's Day to you & the Mrs.

Oops! How did those frogs get on there??!! Lol!

I had a few EE's years ago. One of them may have been a true Ameraucana, a dark blue hen. I loved their personality. I saw a pic scflock posted of his BBS AM roo and thought he was prettiest rooster I had ever seen. I've been bugging him for weeks and finally wore him down. So, these will really be my first real AM's. We pick them up next week.
We ended up with six chicks, five are from shipped Silkie eggs and one was our own Silkie cross. The last one is doing great. We put her in the brooder this afternoon and she took over like she owned it. I think she is gonna be really pretty.
Me and Mrs. Oz had a great Valentines Day. We're curled in front of the fire place and I'm watching a chick flick cause she is dozing on me.

I set 20 eggs from my black pen, and only one made lockdown. The set due Thursday is a little better, and I'm resetting the first incubator tomorrow. Hopefully he got the job done a little better the last few weeks

Black roosters must not like cold short winter days

Those moments are golden! Loved your pics. You already know how nice the quality of your chicks from Sc are gonna be. That's great! Is Mrs. OZ into the birds like you? My hubby thinks their pretty cool, but he doesn't have that passion for them like me. But he's building me more pens for the chicks we'll get next month. Your sillies are so pretty! They are so cute when they are little, and big! Easy to see why they are so popular

Thanks. My wife would never admit it but she loves the chickens especially the silkies. She's like checking the incubator and brooder every five minutes. :)
