Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

And apparently "expert" was a bit of a derogatory label. Kind of like in the big corporate world where "I'm from corporate and I'm here to help" would generally elicit a lot of

Don't know anything about the local situation but they'll "fix it".

Yep, pretty much. LOL

I used to be one of those corporate "experts" that would show up and "fix" everything. LOL

So I hatched this Am. chick but I can't figure out what color the cutie is. When it hatched it was so yellow it looked like a wheaten chick and its legs are not darkening as fast as the other chicks I've hatched. The birds I have are blue, black, splash, and white in the pen the egg came from. So guess away.

Well I'm glad you have transitioned to a useful job

Seemed like every time "help" came they figured they needed to do something big and "important" to justify their job. Lots of stuff that used to work got screwed up that way.

Well, in the first half of my career, I was a software developer in the financial industry - so when I showed up it was to fix something that they badly needed fixing. I used to be wined and dined. LOL

Then, in the second half of my career, I was working "process improvement", so helping business units figure out how to make the most of technology. Not so much wining and dining, but still, usually, appreciated.

But, there were always the exceptions. Not so different from my "job" now, come to think of it.

She doesn't have many feathers yet! She kinda looks like mine but I am not sure what she is yet! Sorry I am no help at all!!!

Can you get a time machine and go back pre 2007-8 and fix those idiots with their "complicated financial instruments" that screwed the economy for years (still is in some ways I guess).

BTW that probably explains why you are "hands on" and Mr. Flock is "hands off". You aren't wired for anything but DETAIL. I was a software developer for 34 years.

You mean...trade my work boots for high heels and my comfortable clothes for business suits again? No thanks! lol

I retired in 2003, so I was out of it before all that happened - but anyone that worked in the mortgage industry could see it coming. "B" and "C" mortgages - underwriting guidelines thrown out the window, loan pools that weren't fully disclosed...OK, I gotta stop - my blood pressure is going up. :)

Looks white but could be splash . If splash it will have some splashes when it gets more feathers . Either way it is based on extended black IMO . Notice the toes are not slate yet . Slate ( black pigment ) will extend into the toes .

I am incubating some ameraucana eggs right now! just started their first day of incubation! I will post some pics when they hatch. the egg colours are blue, green and pink!

Please let us know how it turns out. I have 6 hens and I absolutely adore them. I'd love to eventually be able to hatch my own eggs but that's out in the future!
