Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Well, now that could be a topic for a whole long discussion.  I know some that came out of development and made great managers.  I know some with MB's that made awful management material.

As for the money - well, I retired at age 50 - couldn't have been all bad. ;)
Oh, to retire at 50....
If I can figure out a way to either sell 300 chicks/ week, or sell them for $500 each, I'm out of here :old

I have 47. Only about 10 are active daily and some have been inactive for some time.

Yes indeed, it is called the Peter Principle. Take the best technical people and "reward" them by putting them into team lead then management. More often than not they made less than great managers.

Well that is not me! I am the hard working behind the scene type person. Most of my day is spent caring for my dissabled son. I start every day with more then I could get done in a month. Then I run in when I get a breather and post then do this and that ....then run back in and post again. Then I get confused and post in the wrong thread!!! lol

I retired at 48 but I'm working harder than ever. I did the career thing backwards. I had a nice office with big windows overlooking a courtyard. Played basketball on my lunch break or ran. Now I'm chasing teenagers all day...

Let us know how that works for you! You either need more incubators or get a goose that lays golden eggs!

All depends on the person. I was an accountant in the beginning, then went into management in operations. My teams were recognized as some of the best ever. Then back to corporate in top management positions, but I still preferred operations. Retired after 34 years and love my chickens, horses and mountain farm. I could go for days without seeing any person except my husband. Absolutely detest any outside commitments now. I was through when I left the business world.

Think of it as a lifestyle change! Increased mobility equals exercise equals longevity! It's a win win! You find the fountain of youth AND get all the crazies/meth heads off of our streets!

I have a few that run up a lot every day, but nothing like you and WV. I don't see how you girls keep up :gig

They will be pretty birds for sure, but with those egg colors you are probably incubating Easter Eggers. I have a bunch of EEs myself, and they are beautiful birds that lay a lot of pretty eggs,  but if the eggs are green and pink, they aren't standard bred Ameraucanas
Have you gotten a ship date yet?

No not recently! He did say about a month ago that he was still planning on shipping March 8th which is next Tuesday

Oh gosh! I think I'd take the office with the view back. :)

On second thought - maybe not. :)
