Bringing in a bird that lays bluer eggs would be the quickest way, but you can select the best you can from what you have and work on it for years. They may be an identical shade, but look for gloss and select for it over dull. Next year breed from a cockerel and pullet from the shiniest or glossiest eggs. Select again for eggs that aren't dull and maybe by then some will appear a little bluer. Do the same thing over and over, year after year. Eventually you'll select more for size and shape also.Wow, John, those eggs are gorgeous. I'd like to get more color in my eggs. Out of 8 hens, all eggs are an identical shade of pale blue. With all eggs being the same color, it is impossible to only set the bluest eggs. Do you have any suggestion that wouldn't require an extremely in depth explanation as to breeding to improve egg color?
