Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

There are some good ones in there, but some not so good, too. I have 4 cockerels, with two showing some promise. If I can get one good rooster, I can work with the girls. The good news is these are the sweetest birds I have ever had. I haven't had chickens this tame since I only had 4

I agree!!! I put my hand in the brooder and they are all running to me. They fight to be the ones in my hand. lol

My 10 week old BCMs are the sweetest chickens I have ever had. They want to be held, follow me everywhere, jump in my lap if I sit down and love to be petted. They talk baby talk while I pet them. There are all kinds of problems with color but I really like what I see for the most part. It is early yet though. I have 8 cockerels in the 10 week olds and probably about that many in the 3 week olds. I need to make my first cuts. They are so sweet I hate to see them go. The younger group are not as friendly.

One of my batches was so wild that if you made a loud noise they would hit all 4 corners!!! They got better as adults. This batch is 100% better! I Love the tame ones!

**Mine came from the same breeder!!
I think they are beautiful. Mine are still in a brooder. I have been taking them outside to a playpen of sorts but soon they will be going to their coop. I'm a bit over protective. Lol
Lol! These guys can tell you my first 2 EEs lived inside til they were like 3 months old! Lol. Kind of like the first kid syndrome! Mine from Max are 6 weeks old today and have been outside for a week!
Blue Wheaten breedings follow the same rules as Blue breedings. There is always going to be a chance for Blacks/Wheatens and Splash/Splash Wheaten. It's the nature of the gene.
Ok I see! Thanks!
Now you all need to stop with all the Beautiful chick pics!!! :drool :drool :drool No forget I said that Please don't stop! I can't wait for my Wheaten/Blue Wheaten!!!! :love
Your gonna love um!!

Just set them last night. I should be able to tell something by Saturday or Sunday
Go Johnny go!
I want to talk to your peeps and snuggle with them!!!! lol They never talk back like the hubby!
DITTO!
mine are in the big pen now, and they run to the door when they see me
Well..mine have stopped running up to greet me! Some do but I'm losing favor! I remember thinking that my EEs would never tame down but their super tame now so I think it just takes time & lots of consistency.

I suppose I should try to find a home for my black cockerel with the bad beak. Doesn't it figure he's the sweetest of the black boys...he's always looking at me with that big eye. I love his eyes.. their very expressive..

That would have freaked me out 6 months ago! Lol.

That NPIP thing is going to put a hurting on our trading. Those common walls are killing me...

All of my pens share common walls and they are chicken wire from 4' and up. The only time you have to worry about nose to nose is when you bring new birds in...
