Ok I know this is the AM thread, but I have a question about one of my BCM cockerels tail feathers. They are very frayed looking, like they aren't barbed and holding their shape like they should. I have read about "tail shredding" being a problem when breeding self-blues, and I know a few of you are working with self-blue/lavs. Is that what this is?

Almost 5 wks old. When I did the 1 wk tail check, I put her in the hen group, but it was iffy. My comb pic was blurry so I could not use it. Thoughts...hen or roo?

Hey everybody! I posted pics of my babies a few weeks ago, but I've since gotten two new babies, one died, and one went back because I can't keep roos, so I wanted to put the others on here and see what you all think. I'm a little concerned about my light blue, Midge, because she's got an awfully pink comb, weird coloring, and thick legs. I'm hoping she's a she, but I figured I'd ask the experts. They're all a little under 5 weeks now, and I'm hoping you all might have some ideas about whether I've got all pullets or not. Here they are!

I've read that gasoline and kerosene are the fastest trick, I just couldn't bring myself to do it when my bantams had it. I'm not judging, or saying there's anything wrong with that, I'm just curious. Did it seem to hurt the birds, or bother them in any way? My worry was that if they had any open sores that the fuel would burn

my hen just didnt like her feet being messed with thats all. other than that it didnt hurt them at all.

I had one pop up out of blacks . My understanding is this got into Paul Smith's birds through some he added from Harry Shaffer . I was pleased to get a white .

My birds are from Paul, and I am not disappointed at all to have a white. I'm just trying to figure out how I can get to the point of having an all white pen

It's funny how Paul offered me whites and I turned him down. I would need another pen! Now that I have one and she is so pretty! What do I do with the one white? I don't want to order the min. is 15 I think. He also has a long waiting list....

Like marchick said, it's a bonus. I only wanted the blacks, blues, and splash. I didn't really want to build yet another pen, but she's such a beautiful bird that I'd rather breed her than sell her
