Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

You'all have no idea how excited I am to announce that I am going to bring home a GORGEOUS pure Ameraucana in about a week. His dad is from the Paul Smith line I've been hearing about here on BYC, and the mom is from Susan Mouw's line in Aiken SC. Here is a picture of my boy and his parents. He was hatched on Feb 29 this year, so still a bit of filling out to go, but I can tell that he will be gorgeous just like his father.

LOL..well, hello there. I didn't know you were on byc :) Now that I know you are, I expect pictures of him as he grows up. :)

No problem.  Anyone can read the posts, except in the Members only section, but you do have to be a member to post anywhere and access the Members only.

But, our online membership form is back up and it's very easy to join. :)  Just go to ameraucanabreedersclub.org/membership.html :)

Is the Americauna breeders club and Americauna alliance one in the same?

No we are two different clubs. The Ameraucana Breeders Club (www.ameraucanabreedersclub.org) was started in 1978.
The alliance was started in 2015 by a handful of people.

The link works here fine. Try spelling it ameraucana, instead of americauna

The club was forked into two a year ago. The Ameraucana Alliance is our new name and we are the club with three of the original charter members, going back to 1978, when we started as the Ameraucana Bantam Club.
The brand new Ameraucana Handbook has a great article by Mike Gilbert entitled THE HISTORY OF THE AMERAUCANA FOWL, along with other articles and information. All club members receive a copy and Mike is the guy that bred the first Ameraucanas.
Mike, Jerry Segler, Wayne Meredith and I created all of the 16 original varieties of Ameraucanas. I've since co-created bantam lavender Ameraucanas with Michael Muenks and LF lavender Ameraucanas on my own.

Both clubs are full of very smart, very helpful people that can teach people new to the breed (like me) how to improve on the birds we have. Join one, join the other, or join both, that's all BYC needs to know
