Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Sounds normal for me. I raised thirteen HRIR this spring, and nine of them are cockerels :/
At least with these, I wanted a pair of cockerels.

It never fails, does it?

My first Ameraucanas all turned out to be pullets, and couldn't find the right color or quality of rooster for the longest time... then when I did, he had leakage!

But my Calls I hatched all drakes my first try, couldn't figure out why people said they were loud... :gig

My mom says she thinks it is an Ameraucana but im not so sure. The chicks look so much alike. I really want to find out if its is or if its an Easter Egger. The picture of it is above. Please help!

Here is my EASTER EGGER with her Silverlaced Polish "sister"

That's an Easter Egger, sorry... only 1 type of Ameraucana chick has that chipmunk stripe and the color is different, plus Silvers are one of the more rare types of Ameraucanas...

The only way to get true Ameraucana is to source from a breeder or order directly from either Meyer hatchery, Cackle hatchery, or MyPetChicken.com
Most hatcheries and feed stores sell Easter Eggers as Ameraucana. Happens to everyone at first.

I'll have to look there! Thank you. :D I have a plan to create fully crested Polish Easter Eggers that lay only blue eggs, and I'll need a couple different lines of Ameraucana chickens to do that :)
