I have been enjoying this thread and all the pictures. It's been awhile since I've posted. Been busy with work, kids, farm life.. good thing I have a couple pens of "stress relievers". Love my ameraucanas! It's funny, I raised the Am's right along with a batch of BlRW's and they're still together.. the Am will fly right up into my lap and want to be loved on while the BLRW are more stand-offish.. they have completely won me over. My birds came from mstrawn and peachick. I keep thinking about narrowing down the breeds I own so I can have more varieties of them Am's, not just the Wheaten/Blue Wheatens.
Does anyone else find their Am's to be the friendliest in the flock?

I just started with chickens in general but I've got Blue AM, an EE and a BLRW. I would definitely say the AMs are the friendliest. The EE is a little skidish. And the BLRW is a butt head. She sometimes peeks at my hands when I go to pick her up. I generally peek her back with my finger (not really hard). She has gotten better. I also told her if she doesn't behave herself shes going in the stew pot.

Nope. Though my MIL phoenix pullet just started laying so if people want phoenix chicks I may hatch some of them in a few weeks.

Gosh!

Talk about major disappointment. Two of my three roos that were looking gorgeous, have popped up with leakage on their hackles. One is black and the other is blue. I have one blue roo left to see if he has it too. The have gold coloring coming out overnight!

I have extra Roo's, blue and black if you need/want a different one. I think mine are a few weeks younger, but close enough in age. Let me know if you want pics or want to ride by and look

Hi guys! Would you give me your opinion of the black Ameraucana and which of the two blues to keep? April 2 hatch.
Here is the black, but he won't stay in the sun to show off the green and purple highlights he has.

Overall, your black is looking decent, imo... don't see anything really outstanding as a fault...

The top blue looks like the muffs/beard are a bit better... body shapes are similar... but the blue in top pic is cleaner than the bottom... lacing shows a bit better, bottom one looks washed out to me...

Tails are low, but they're young yet... plus I'd rather have a lower tail than too high...

I agree, and Alaskan nailed it... too much fluff at tail base on the one, and better pea comb on the other... go with type and body shape over color...

I know! My 1st set of BLRW chicks were so pretty growing out then I realized that they were ALL boys!!!

There are a ton of "what breed" is this threads. Just put "what breed" in the search box. You will likely need more pictures including side shots.

Yes, if you post in the what breed is this section you'll likely get more response. Try to include a full body shot of the bird standing and a good comb shot. Natural light is better.
