Last weekend was the show in Lucasville, Ohio. It was a sanctioned club meet for the Ameraucana Alliance. Bill Wulff told me there were 1,291 total entries. Jensen Pierson, Kraig Shafer, I and a nonmember exhibited 23 LF Ameraucanas. The biggest variety class was black with 12 entered by 3 exhibitors, judged by Paul Gilroy and it was the only variety with birds entered by more than one exhibitor. Kraig had BV, BB & Reserve AOSB on a white cock and Jensen had BV & RB on a black pullet. I had the only 5 bantams with a lavender pullet winning Best of Breed! Saturday was a beautiful day with sunshine and a high in the low 70s. Three nonmembers exhibited in junior competition with 5 LF and 4 bantams entered.
This weekend is the Fowl Fest at the Expo Center in Birch Run. It is also an Alliance club meet and an ABA district meet. It should be sunny and 59 on Saturday. If you are within driving distance please consider stopping in.
Just wanted to post a quick update about my birds...my dear sweet little bw cockerel, D'Artagnan was killed by a raccoon about a week ago, and was replaced by a beautiful wheaten cockerel who happened to be the same age as my blue girls (about 27 weeks). I got him for free from my breeder, and actually recognized him from the county fair this year. He won best of breed!!! And I got him for FREE because my breeder us getting out of lf ams!!! His name is Hugo, and he's awesome. A bit more black in the halls than I would like, but that's his biggest fault and he'll be a really great starting point for my w/bw/sw breeding program...

My blue wheaten girls (Hugo's future mates) are doing well, although I've become a little concerned about one girl's tail...it leans really bad to her left. Is this something that could correct itself? Will it affect her offspring? Should I cull her? They are now 10-11 weeks.
Clover and Charlotte. Charlotte (in the back) is the one with the wonky tail. What do you think?

Here's Clover, who, as far as I can tell is just about perfect. I love her:

And last but not least is my little blue cockerel, Athos, who is now 10 weeks old. He's my favorite boy because he's super sweet and I can already tell he's gonna be gorgeous. Here's a few pics:

Pretty birds... Charlotte looks to have wry tail... you don't want to breed that, sorry...
So sorry you lost your cockerel. Having suffered loss from a raccoon myself this past summer, what have you done to make sure it doesn't happen again? If it is still alive, that coon will be stalking your birds until it finds a way to get them.
