Thank you!
I agree. They are a really nice color combo, a bit different than I was thinking. Didn't know there were that many around.
There aren't, lol... and they're even prettier now than they were a while back...

Well, I was hoping to have something to brag about with the Anniston, AL show this past weekend, but I don't. We did bring home CH AOSB and Res. CH AOSB, but I was only competing against myself, as there were no other Ams entered.
Oh well, it was a fun trip with some great folks, good practice run for the more competitive shows later this year, and fun was had by all.
Not eh best pics...
CH AOSB, BB, BV - both shows. Black Ameraucana pullet. that is the reserve best of variety mugging the shot
Reserve CH AOSB, RB, BV - both shows, Blue Ameraucana Pullet
Reserve Best of Variety - Blue Ameraucana Pullet - both shows (I didn't get a good pic of reserve for the blacks)

Just judging on this one's tail, and the slight pinkening of its comb, I would hazard a guess that this one might be a cockerel. My blue boy started getting a pink comb at that age, and then it suddenly got HUGE about a week later. He's 10 weeks now and is very obviously a boy now...so hopefully you'll know for sure soon. Sorry if I'm wrong, it was just a gut feeling I got when I saw this one. All your birds are BEAUTIFUL, though! Don't you just love how sweet they are? I have twelve different breeds, but my Ams are my favorites, bar none. They're awesome. And my blue boy, Athos is the sweetest little cockerel I've ever met. Good luck with them! I'd love to know if I was right once this one gets a bit older. I love testing my weird little gut feelings and guesses on these things![]()
I personally love the purple sheen on black but someone suggested that green is the qualifier sheen. Not sure if you can tell but the black Ameraucana has a lovely purple sheen. Is this desirable or is green sheen preferred? Thanks for your comments and I will be sure to post updated pics!
Oh my goodness! I wish my blues had such wonderful edging! These girls are GORGEOUS!! And congrats on doing well against yourself
At least now you'll know which of your girls the judges tend to favor...every little bit helps, huh? Again, gorgeous birds. You should be proud...I sure as heck would be![]()

She's a cutie, isn't she? I do claim credit for the two blacks I took to Anniston - those gals were bred right here at Sand Castles Farm!![]()
