Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I order to make lavender, Your going to need a lavender Roo, not a blue one. Cross the lav Roo too the EE's, and you'll get some splits(Blacks that have hidden lav genes) Cross the splits together, and you'll have some lavs

HappyMtn-Zinnias- now everything is frozen and blah...

herbandteas-Ok, now I am really sorry. That is sad. You have some of the best breeders in your state. If you live near Cree Farms
you could contact them for BBS started or adults. One of my friends just had some shipped. Merry xmas to you? (0:

Well the eggs are in the bator for my New Years Day Hatch. (put them in at high noon)

Here is what I have in the bator...

18 Black Copper Marans from Melissa (pasofinofarm)

14 BW/W Ameraucanas from Jean (Pips and Peeps) GOD BLESS HER she sent extras!! (32) This is actually a test hatch for her and she was EXTREMELY NICE... I don't think I even paid her enough to cover postage.

2 GC Marans from my own hen and roo (34)

18 BW/W Ameraucanas from my coop (52) I have 2 BW pullets and 3 Wheaten pullets so I imagine most will be Wheatens, but I have a slight chance for some splash! With the BW roo!

And the following DESIGNER CHICKENS!!!

4 BWAmeraucana X Leghorns (1 PW, 2 LB, 1 CA W) (56)

2 BW Ameraucana X Bearded Buff Laced Polish... what easter eggers will that make!! (58)

2 GC Marans X Delaware (54)

1 GC Marans X Black Star (55)

1 GC Marans X EE (58)

3 BW Ameraucana X Salmon Faverolle (61)

1 Pure Bred Partridge Cochin (62) Guess it's not really designer... hope I get a pullet!

6 BW Ameraucana X (Various B/B/S) I have 1 splash, 1 black... the 2 blues aren't laying for (68 total eggs) Guess these will be easter eggers but they will lay nice pretty blue eggs!

I am WAY behind on this thread. Will try to find some time to go thru the pages and see what all I've missed.

I did catch one comment a page back or two where someone talked about their BBS eggs having a slight green tint to them. There is an excellent article in the recent ABC Newsletter about test breeding your rooster for color. Great advice. The green tint is likely being passed on from a rooster who still has a brown gene he's throwing.

As soon as I can, I want to post some pics of a problem - at least I think it's a problem - that I have showing up in some of my W & BW pullets and hens. It's black ticking. Some of you may have seen it on the pic I posted on the ABC Forum. Now I'm seeing some very slight black ticking coming in on the hackle tips of my hens and I've got a lot of "burnt wood brown" coloring on the top of the heads of several of my pullets along with some of it in their hackles. I've also got a couple of pullets that are darker colored than the others. I'd like to get some input on that as well.

Feel free to pipe in now if you'd like. Jean, I know you can give some great advice so I hope you see this. I'll try to get pics posted soon.

God Bless,
