Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I have 8 wheaten/blue wheaten 2 week olds. I've noticed that 7 of them are feathering in cream and dark brown. The eighth has a lot less brown and it is alot lighter of a brown color. Is this indicative that 7 are wheaten and 1 is blue wheaten or does it mean nothing? Also, about what age should I be able to determine the sex according to color? What should I be looking for? I've read through this whole thread but can't remember because I didn't have wheatens back then...are the darker ones female? For some reason I'm thinking I read that it was opposite of what I would have thought.

Thanks!

Hello, This is my first time raising chickens and I am having a blast and learning a lot! I've learned so much from this forum!! I do have a bird and I'm not sure if she's an Ameraucana. I was told she was when I purchased her but I can't find any pictures that look like her. Here are some pictures of her. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Wow, those are some feathers on her legs! She's lovely, but certainly not an Ameraucana. Perhaps an Easter Egger? She really is cool looking.

Ameraucanas dont have feathers on their legs, and it looks like she has a single comb, which Ameraucanas dont have.

Im not so sure she's a she, either.
