Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Wellie is the bottom right. It's usually much darker, but I guess yesterday was her light colored egg day. This was just yesterday's eggs, excluding the white egg from my buttercup.

ETA: directly behind the blue egg is my other new layer, my BCM - it's her 3rd egg.

ETA again, this pic shows the normal wellie color. (center) The BCM eggs are much darker than even these.

Got a couple of new blue pullet eggs from my New Years hatch pullets... I should get a pic.

It's been so hot my hens had quit laying, but we got 8 today!

That's awesome! My lav eggs from Shaffer go on lockdown on the 4th. I'd be overjoyed if 1/2 of them hatch!

In other news- I got a bantam blue baby roo from Jenski (via Holly). He is a shoulder chicken!

I'm so mad at my Ameraucana roos right now!!! They almost killed one of my BLRW roos. They tail plucked him then proceeded to cannibalize his behind! Not sure if he will make it. IF he doesn't slowly bleed to death he has to avoid infection...They are all only 10 weeks old. I was hoping to keep them a little longer to pick the best, but I can't have this happen again

I have pictures, but they are kind of graphic. If I weren't a nurse I may have gotten ill, just looking at it. Wish I had some chicken ibuprofen for the poor bird.

I'm so sorry about your roo. I am a vet tech. Meloxicam can be used in chickens, as well as clavamox. I don't know if you have access to either of these drugs, but if you do, PM me for the dose. Good luck with your "patient".
