Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'm using my ameraucana roos to make BIG EEs with heavy Orp & Cochin girls. So far I've gotten some really huge fast-feathering chicks, and they have light legs. I'm hoping for girls, but any boys could probably bea decent table bird. I agree with Jean- the pure ams are way too small to be meat birds, and I only have one that I'd consider a "great layer"- when she's not broody, that is.

She's a blue wheaten- all my other girls (wheatens, lavs & blacks) are too young or on strike.

As for size with crosses... I have a roo that is huge... he is a cross between a BWA and a Cinnamon Queen. Big red bird with blue tail feathers... one leg is yellow the other blue green. His sister from the same cross is white with buff lacing... she almost looks like a cornish cross.

I'm thinking I've figured out sex linked EEs... BWA X Cinnamon Queen. Boys:Red w/ blue tail feathers, Girls White w/ buff lacing and all HUGE. I'll have to do more crosses to see... and I can't wait to see how the female lays... and what color she lays.

I don't know about this fella being a cross of anything. Louis came from Jean's line and hatched in the first week of this year. I like him, he has one droopy wing feather, that is all I can fault him on. His has just had his first two babies hatch yesterday with a nice deep blue Ribbeck girl. Can't wait to see how they grow out.
Lou stands around 22 inches tail. A nice active boy. If there is anything else I need to be aware of please let me know? I plan on using him a bit this fall

WOW! He is a big beautiful SPLASH from her BBS lines. He should produce some gorgeous babies.

Doesn't Jean make great Blues? I love em!
Just had two chicks hatch from him and his Blue sis. She too is very nice for conformation. A great tail and decent size. I hope to have some grown out for next year to show in this area. Lou will be shown here in Lebanon IN this fall at Doug Akers APA show. Just like I do when I show my others Exhibition quality breeds. Full creds will go to Jean. He is my first hatched from the eggs I incubated and raised that came from her. Here is the parent stock.
O the two bigger boys, the one with the tail is by far my best bird

Gorgeous bird! Do you seperate them just for breeding?

In this pic they hadn't started to lay. This pic is from last summer. Yes, I separate the two lines I have. I now only have one girl of the three. ONLY cause I have 20 some birds from the two I got rid of. The one I kept has the best egg color. I plan to breed her to this Blue boy in one of the self contained pens and only hatched from them two this fall. HOPEFULLY!! lololol
