Did you look in the classified adds section?

Look on the breeders page of Ameraucanas Breeders Page

Or PM me and I will give you the name of the guy here in NC that I got my flock from..

Are Ameracaunas on the bottom of the pecking order? My 5 day backyard hardscaping project has become a horrendous 3 week project. I have a large coop and run, but we usually let them free range in the afternoon. The Ameracauna pullets are the same size and age as the majority of my chickens and they are the only ones that have gotten their tail feathers pecked off. It's so sad looking. I'm just wondering if others have had the experience of the Ameracaunas getting bullied in mixed flocks.

My Blue Wheatens and Wheatens are sort of towards the bottom, yeah, but they'll grow past it eventually. My older BBS Ameraucanas are a little better though. I do always find them to be a much more passive breed.

Just a quick question if I may. If I order eggs from a "pure" Wheaten on Wheaten breeding pair I will get only Wheaten babies right? Also I have read that the babies will look the same color (fuzz) at hatch but the males will grow in darker feathering quickly so I can tell males from females within a months time? Thanks for any help on this.

Right. You'd need a blue wheaten or splash wheaten in the mix to get anything but wheatens. The boys are usually easy to spot by a month in the wheaten varieties.

Dear UndergroundChickens:

What I really know about our chickens can fit into a teacup with plenty of room for milk, sugar and honey,,

,,but:

Per my breeder who is a wealth of information to me:

"The lightest brown chicks will be the blue wheaten females, if they are a little darker they will be the wheaten females. The very dark ones will be wheaten males, with the darker ones with blue feathers will be blue wheaten males. Then if you have some that look more grey with just some dark lacing these are the splash males. All these colors come out of the wheatens, as the blue gene is recessive and shows up even in wheaten/wheaten cross."
