Oh, so its a splash! I was thinking to myself - "WOW what a cockerel!! What is he? Really light blue?" Very pretty.

Yep that splash wheaten sure looks nice! looks like you got a couple ladies there to very pretty. I wish I had room for Ameraucanas now but at college Faverolles bantams is all I can handle. Hope everyone is doing well though.

I'm still trying to get a handle on what my wheaten girls should look like. Is the color supposed to be even with a little black in the tail/wings? This girl's hackles are clear but noticeably darker than the rest of her.

for Kansaseq: Their eye color changes as they mature. Reddish bay is a orangy-reddish color. The chicks in the previous pics have their baby color eyes.

Thanks all for the compliments! I have a three weeks' younger batch still in the basement too. All of these chicks are out of one pair of birds. Both of the cockerel chicks in this batch are snugglebugs, well, they all are but I think it is amusing when cockerels are. As they get older one day they seem to notice they aren't manly if they are too cozy. Not sure if the girls tease them or what.

The splash boy pictured really has a much nicer blue color. Interesting as it is a lighter blue than the BW cockerel. I think the splash is going to have the largest and fullest beard and muffs of this group.

MrsChickendad, your girl looks good to me for color.

I have a general question about Ameraucana's so I figure somebody on this thread would know- If you have pure parents, but a chick hatches with no muffs, is it still considered an Ameraucana?
