Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

Glais' comb and wattles seem to be bigger every day! Reaching @fluffycrow's Kolovos level.

Such an honour for Kolovos to be remembered for his wattles!
We may be in need a Kolovos wattle photo for comparison purposes ;)

It doesn’t take much for me to share pictures of a very special rooster. His spurs were also quite large

Most of his sons also developed impressive combs (9month old cockerel here, I believe)

As you can see, the comb is also growing on the beak. I’ve never had any of them show signs of discomfort while trying to breathe. Hope that covers Perris’ question earlier in the thread. Similar experiences with the hens, whose combs can flop completely over the beak (Ursula, for example). I believe RC said the same

Do your the large comb roosters have frostbite issues?

Right now it's 16f with 87% humidity and freezing fog. Difficult to prevent frostbite on big combs here. They lose the points.
I have been trying to breed for small wattles and pea combs. But still get a few blade combs.
