I had more pips but they all just stopped and didn't finish. I gotta say though this is the best hatch I've had with shipped eggs in months, so thank you so much.
I have one with spaddled legs. Not sure if this is the reason, but while it was hatching the other three literally climbed into the open part of shell and laid on it. Thought they'd sufficate it a couple of times. I just tapped the glass and they's move, but kept going back. I guess they could have held it there long enough to damage it, but never seen anything like that before. I have a bandaid in place now. Tried the cup (actually a yogurt container, but it kept flipping over on it's back, so guess it wasn't tight enough to hold it in place.
Anyway here's some pics for you.
This is the one I've bandaided
And here's the other 3
Only thing I have to take pics with right now is my phone, so sorry their so fuzzy.
And, the other black one will be a cull. It will end up looking like a silver. I don't know where that gene came from. I actually got one that was a gold duckwing too.
If you want to try the eggs again, let me know I will send you more for just shipping. I got rid of all the lavender splits and put all the lavender pullets in the breeding pen. I will sort through them over the next month and decide which 7 to keep.
I am also waiting for the cockerels to mature. I have three that are really young but looking very nice.
We'll get you some more usable chickies one way or another.

A cull? Darn it's so cute. But then again 1 day olds all are.
Let me know when you have eggs and I'll paypal you asap.
I'm just so happy that I got shipped eggs to hatch. Seems to help if they don't travel far.

Are you getting any lav cockerels from your split to split breedings without raggedy tail feathers? All three of my boys leave something to be desired.
Which makes me ask, Jean, what is the background of the pullet and cockerel I got from you? You mentioned the cockerel has blue in him and came from a blue egg, so, I'm supposing his parents have or are from Gary's flock of Buffs? And the pullet - What of her?
Just curious, as I'd like to know what I'm working with.
I still have a seperate pen with that original nice lavender cock bird. (Mr. Meanie)
He is in with some split hens that were sisters to the large split cock bird I had in my split pen. I am going to see how his offspring turn out compared to the split to split pen. I will start hatching them as soon as they start to lay again.
I imagine I will also put him back over the larger of the lavender pullets I keep. This will be his last year here though, he's too big a PIA to keep. I'm tired of fighting with him.
Let me know if you want a key to toe punching, Paul Smith sent me one. There's a bazillion ways to punch for different pens.
