Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

I'm working on Blue Wheatens.

This is a pullet that I like the best. She won best of breed over some blacks at a 5 club show.

My bw cockerel is afraid of the hens....so no fertile eggs so far. I think I'll have to put the wheaten cockerel in for a while instead..

Wow she has some really nice coloring in her tail. I would love to get some eggs from you in the future...but would really love BWxBW because I am going to have wheaties coming out of my ears by the end of March and I would like to hatch some splashes out also. I have more wheaties from Blehm coming in march

is this the same Wheaten that was on the Ameraucana Breeders Club Forum and had a huge thread because of something. She's a nice bird. Is the picture dark or is she a bit gingery?

Yes it is here's the link THe thread went off on a tangent about judging ameraucana's
My one BW hen has almost no coloration in the tail...

Well I probably shouldn't be saying this but oh well, I sort of half hazardly stumbled upon the Ameraucana breeders forum and I don't think you are allowed in there unless you are a memeber but I kind of stalk it. I'm now just waiting untill after the first of the year to become a member. I've been meaning to do it for months but i just haven't gotten around to it. But anyway I read it. I'm not sure if all of that is completely true or influenced by a few biases. lol She's a nice hen. I have a blue wheaten pullet that doesn't have much colore in her tail but clean hackles but then I have a pullet with a nice colored tail but ticking in her hackles!

Yes, that is really nice color. . . . ALL of my BW/W Ameraucanas have little to practically no color.

Which is good for my Buffs, very good, but otherwise I'm culling out all my BW Ameraucanas. . . And either not going to continue with them for a while or will start with a-new sometime later.

Hello everyone, just wanted to say that with the help of some friends, I'm going to try to hatch out 36 silkie feathered ameraucanas in the Spring. Here's the plan.

-12 blue SFA
-12 lavendar SFA
-6 splash SFA (is that possible?)
-6 black SFA

And then, maybe when I decide to renovate a shed around May I can add a SFA pen.

Thoughts?

I wouldn't suggest making a lavender Silkie Feathered Ameraucana because the lavender gene usually means bad quality feathers anyway plus silkied feathers....you could possibly end up with a bald chicken!
