Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Thanks everyone!

They came from Washington state, and I live in Florida. The breeder we got them from ordered the eggs from a breeder....who bred show quality ameraucanas.. I forgot his name..

The pen was originally built for doves. We added the nest boxes later.. They have a little ladder thing so that the birds can get up to sleep or lay their eggs. There's another thing they can sleep on top of,and my mom used pieces of a book shelf to build the ladder. We even made a little 3 story house for them, each story has 3 nest boxes for them. We used an old table that was broken to make it.

Would it be Lisa & Gary Cree by any chance? They're a WA-based BBS breeder who has VERY nice birds, although they also have some, umm, breeding problems too.

Here is a picture of my lav split cockerel. Hatched 5/11/10. He is 7 1/2 pounds already. Any thoughts? I know his comb is a bit spikey, but there is three rows. He is from pipsandpeeps.

What do you mean Illia? Should I not order eggs from them in the springtime... ?

I like my Cree birds. Calmest temperments for black/blue I have. Full beards, small combs, standard size. Unfortunately I only hatched boys, but they're my keepers in my black/blue pen. Lisa and Gary were a pleasure to deal with.

Merry Christmas to all and "Happy Holidays" to every one else. Stay safe and I'll see you on the flip side. Taking a few days off for the celebrations. I'll be back with pictures of my boys so you all can help me cull out the less desirable ones before they cause problems and as an added bonus you'll be helping me feed good wholesome safe food to my family!

That's good to hear!

No, go ahead and do so, the Crees are really friendly people, it is just that from a lot of people I've heard, including from my own experience, their birds have a tendency to throw clean faced and heterozygous muff/bearded birds.
