Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Sorry, hun, but you have Easter Eggers, not Ameraucanas. I know that's how Ideal sold them to you, but that's what most hatcheries do...it's very frustrating, I know. Because EEs are cross bred, there is no way to know exactly what is in the parentage to know why one is smaller than the other, but it could also just be that it will grow later. I had a blue Wyandotte that was TINY until she was almost 16 weeks old, then she had a growth spurt and ended up being bigger than her sisters...you just never know.

Just curious if you had her ship the eggs and what was your hatch rate. Considering trying the shipped egg thing one more time. So frustrating when you order eggs, pet , pamper, & pray and then only hatch about 20%.

Just to be clear, my bad experience was not with her eggs.

We ordered 12, got 18, 15 made it to lockdown, and 9 hatched. Hubby is going to candle the other 6 in a bit. We had a power outage last week, so that may have affected some of them. I was very, very happy with LAM's packing job. Everything arrived safe and sound.

I had 4 shipments from her last year, and even when the USPS scrambled the air cells, I still had decent hatch rates!

Probably gonna have to get some more, because I sold all the chicks -

I keep changing how I'm doing things, but now I really need some new blood for my bantam blacks...

pips&peeps :

Jeanine,

My new trio of bantams are from John's stock and one from Mike's. Do you want me to hatch some chicks and bring them to Stevenson for you????

YES!!!! Or Monroe...?? Or I'd even take some shipped eggs sooner if they're available...??
