I only use the chest feather thing on Welsummers. With wheatens look at the back of their necks. You can see the feather shafts- if they look black or blue(not red)at 3 weeks or so....boy!

the backs are what we have been watching and the feathers are slowing coming in now so well see what they look like-once they get a bit more feathering in, we'll take a few pictures and post.

Clean face can pop up anywhere with any color of Ameraucana. I received a Wheaten last year from Blehm that had clean face. It is not something that needs working on in the Lavs, as much as comb improvement, size, type and egg color.

I've been putting off joining the ABC; partly due to always being on a tight budget, but also partly due to the club's history of being very slow to recognize payment and grant membership status. I learned that some delays were attributed to applicant's failures to fill out the info properly; I emailed payment and memdership info today, and hope it was done correctly.

I've served as an unpaid member on a couple of boards of directors myself; and know it can be a thankless job with many more complaints and criticisms than imaginable. I appreciate Michael's dilemas [as the serving Secretary/ Treasurer, and having to give up his birds and move to the city for his job]. I hope he can continue as Secretary/Treasurer if it's something he loves, and the other board members find a way to ease his burden if necessary.......................................
............................ and as a prospective member, I'll attempt to practise patience.

I think that you should be fine. Micheal has been quite active in the chicken world here in the past few days and I have talked to him on several occasions. He is a very nice guy for doing all of this and not even having birds!

I just PMed Jean before you posted.

We sent ours 1/5 and got our stuff today. The info is wrong and I don't know which way to go to fix it. It was an easy mistake, but I've got to get it corrected and without some kind of feedback IDK.

The wheaten is certainly a pullet. Congrats. it's a girl!

My computer is screwing up, and I can't open the ABC breeders directory. Does anyone mind copying and pasting the page to me? Not the link, the breeder list. PM or just post it here.

Thanks.

You can. It does happen that you get one with out muffs. You shouldn't keep these birds though because they carry genes that are undesirable. But yes clean faced ameraucanas do exist. They are a genetic mistake per say.
