Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Thank you for your advise. I would love them no matter what they are as they are pets with an egg bonus for me. I was told they are show quality Ameraucanas. I got them because the grandkids want to collect blue eggs.

My Silver chicks act like I'm going to kill them every time I go near them! They flap around the like nuttys until I grab them, then they'll just sit in your hand an chirp. They're so weird.

I do that here for friends, I don't see why it would be impossible... just have to find someone willing to do it!

I totally agree. I would do that for my customers also. You just have to keep looking & find a reputable breeder in your area that has the breed/variey that you want that will do that for you. Have you checked the club website for breeders in your area?

Thanks! Interesting about the wacky temperament on the silvers. It's interesting because I have quite a few EEs who closely resemble silver Ameraucanas, and mine are very skittish as compared to my other colored EEs. I had heard that the silver Ameraucanas lay the bluest egg (although I've since been informed that the bluest egg honors tend to go to the blue wheatens and wheatens).
What about the white Ameraucanas? Are they (I am speaking in general, i.e. the majority of lines) known for bluer eggs? I'd heard that the brown red Ameraucanas tend not to have blue eggs, but rather blue green. ??
I'd love to hear more on these topics! Thanks again!

Seriously true! I gave all of my silvers away and was too tempted to hatch the eggs I was left with...so now I still have Silvers! They are gorgeous... though, I'm partial to the appearance of the hens.

Here are 3 week old chicks....and yes, they pooed on the table!

I know this post is older, but out of curiosity, what color was your EE who laid the bluest egg? I have also found that my white and silver colored EE hens seem to lay the bluer eggs, as compared to the darker red or brown EE hens.
