Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Wow

Those are the biggest Ameraucana eggs I have ever seen. It is hard to get pics to show the true color of blue but if your color is true, I would say it is very good too. I can't answer to shape except to say mine are more " egg shaped".
Someone with more experience than me will answer you soon I'm sure.

I know, they are excellent size and I LOVE that. I got an order of Ameraucana eggs to hatch and they were the size of my 1st yr. layers.....lol. I figure if I get any pullets out of the hatch and cross them on my Ameraucana rooster that they will improve the size and give them a little more color.
The color is a little washed out in the pictures and they are a little bluer but not too far off. I use to have the color chart but lost it and never really did understand what the best color was on the chart.

What color are your birds? I think I need some hatching eggs if you ever decide to sell or swap.

I think the only thing I'd say is off about them is their shape. They're very round, which in my experience is far more of an Araucana trait. I've never seen round Ameraucana eggs before, but, I've certainly not dabbled in enough to say "it is the egg shape law"

Your "green" one doesn't look too green in the photo. Try taking pictures of them OUT of the sunlight. It helps. - Like this -

I thought- wow - either those are really big eggs or she must have really tiny hands! I like the color- I can picture what they look like in "real life" because mine kinda look like that when I take pics too.

i have a question for the ameraucana guru's. i just hatched out some blue ameraucana eggs from Mr. Meredith i noticed 1 of them has some white feathers on it's wing tips and some blue. they are only a week old but would it be safe to say it will be a splash? or is it to early to tell. he said the pen had a black cock covering splash hens but before that was splash cock and a blue cock. it would be great if it was a splash but i don't want to get my hopes up. these are my first blue so not sure figured i could find someone here that would no more thanks in advance

The white is a normal trait like blacks have. It's still a blue

True Splashes hatch out a yellowy color, feather in white, (maybe with a few stray blues) THEN get their splash coloring down the road.

We just got our very first Ameraucana chicks... all 15 of them arrived in the mail perfect!
They are from Paul and Angela Smith... who were really wonderful to work with!

I have B/B/S birds if you would like to see them: www.medicinecreekboergoats.com
I have black roos so my chicks can only be blue or black.
I have an order form on my site
