Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

That's an Easter Egger chick. She will be a wild-type partridge color.
They are comparable in size/height to Plymouth Rocks. I always build my coops tall enough that I can clean them without hurting myself.

this chick is from Ideal Poultry...the man said she was an Ameraucana...she also has muffs?

An Easter Egger is a mixed bird with a possible Ameraucana in the background. There is a standard for the true breed but not the Easter Eggers. I have both and love the color variations of the EE.

ETA. Hatcheries only sell EE

It's not a bad thing. EEs are wonderful! My Orloffs and Olive Eggers and Faverolles and D'uccles have beards and muffs too. So do D'anvers, but I don't have any of them.

Also- I don't mind so much the repeated questions. I just can't stand when people continue to spell things wrong after being given multiple hints.

How about we ask Nifty for a chicken related spell checker? Or a zoombie smilie shows up automatically for any misspelled chicken breed name...
