Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

she made a mistake, realized it, learned form it, beat self up over it. That's all that can be done in my opinion :) Life is but an adventure and we can't all be perfect, that would be so boring!

I was wondering if anybody could post a picture of a Silver large fowl Aneracauna chick? So I can compare it to what mine look like. I would take a pic and post it of mine but my hubby is off fighting forest fires and took the camera with him. Thanks :)

And the participant was threatened that if she removed her entries (because she stated, they were in the wrong class) she would be "BANNED FOR LIFE" from entering shows.
Bob we all know the standards here, we are discussing the behavior toward one of the participants. We are supporting her in regards to how she was treated. We are glad to hear you side of the incident but that is only one part of the story.

You have to be carefull, alot of EE chicks have the "chipmunk" pattern but the colors might be off. I know it might be a long shot but the best way to know if yours are pure or not is to find out what the parents look like. I would ask the feed store where the chicks came from, if they came from a local breeder you might be able to go see the parents. I hope this helps

Thank you admhotel! That is a great idea, I will call the feed store in the morning to make sure but I think they mentioned they get thier birds from Cackle before. That pick does sorta look like mine but I might have to wait until the hubby gets home from fires and post a picture on here for the experts :)

Playing the role of devil's advocate here.

Denise threatened to pull her birds in part due to her disagreement about the judgeing results of the 4H show. She also accused the WIC of negligence. None of us were there, we don't actually know what was done, what was said, or the tone it was said in. I do feel Denise deserves my/our support; but not us joining in a battle we actually have no direct knowledge about. I do know the WIC made an attempt to set right a wrong, according to what Denise said herself. Bob has nothing whatsoever to do with entries, bio-security, etc..

Ask yourself this question:
If you're receiving show entries, how would you react to a stranger coming up to you at your local fair and threatening to pull the birds you had just checked in because they don't like the way the 4H show was judged the day before they arrived, and because you are not doing your job correctly at bio-security or properly categorizing the entries?
On the wrong day, I know I'm perfectly capable of going on the attack under those conditions.

I can guarantee by my own experience, county fairs and even much larger shows do not always have bio-security measures fully practised; and even when they do, slips are made and birds may possibly go home sick...................... it's a part of showing every seasoned exhibitor is aware of, though many can tell you they have never had a bird go sick after any show they attended.

I'm sorry but as I've said before you don't have Ameraucanas. They're Easter Eggers. If your judge is a part of a small circuit of county fairs or 4-H programs, then he or she certainly won't care or notice the difference in Easter Egger vs Ameraucana, sorry. As for colors, I didn't see any of your Ameraucanas with recognized colors on your website (read the standard and you'll see some traits that don't fit) - Also, sorry, Wheaten or Blue Wheaten crossed with Brown Red do not make any true breeding color. Both have completely different E locus, so the only thing you'll make that is different are Blue-based Brown-Reds.

Make sure you look or ask your son to look at your birds' feet!

All your photos on your website show birds with green legs and yellow soles. They should be gray to blue in color, with white soles.
