Good thing you live so far away, cause he might just turn up at my house one day!

I ended up with NO buff rooster since the one I picked to keep developed feather stubs on his legs

I could kick myself for not keeping a back up rooster, but I was so short on pen space! I decided to go ahead and start the process of improving egg color using my Pips & Peeps wheaten rooster. I set 8 eggs from my two buff girls and all 8 are growing on day 6

I will need a good buff rooster come June next year when the pullets from this hatch start laying. Sure hope I don't end up with mostly boys like I did with my Meredith/Pips & Peeps hatch

Ha- I hatched ALL boys on 4 tries. Going to put him over a couple wheaten pullets for a short time if they ever start laying. The last thing I need right now are a bunch of project chicks, but its a means to an end so.... I'd like to get all my breeds down to nice little quads, and a roo house for the spare guys. Never seems to work out the way I plan

Wow! 4 tries and all boys?!! I don't feel as bad now, except not only did I get rid of all but one of my 9 buff roosters, I passed up buff rooster chicks that a friend had from Blehm. She ended up keeping only the pullets thinking she didn't want to breed this color, but now the pullets are so pretty she is re-thinking her decision! We have all the pullets and you have the roosters . . what a shame

It could be a project Ameraucana if your working towards getting Buff Tailed Blacks breeding pure, which it looks like. The close one looks like it has a Cushion comb... so I would lean towards EE, and im wondering what theyre Orp crossed with.
