That is good news. Wish my girls would lay...ANYTHING. Right now, with all the holiday baking, I'd take WHITE eggs. But I would rather have blue.

Almost looks like a splash wheaten, but it lacks a beard so you shouldn't breed from it.

it is very nice looking but like what he said lacks a beard

That is a beautiful splash wheaten, but clean-faced. Its just one of those things that pops up and can really put the breaks on building a flock. You can test breed him to an unrelated hen, but that will always haunt you. Or use him for EEs or Olive eggers.

Thank you.... I have 2 hens that are bearded, they just started laying, so eggs are already incubating. I will see what I come up with.

Ditto! Couldn't agree more or said it any better.

I definitely echo the recommendation to not breed him though. Even though you could and deal with the issue down the road as it pops up, I really don't see any reason to given that ease in producing more that will have a beard.

One thing I would add (and this is not taking anything away from the fact that he is a strikingly beautiful bird), I have been told that on the SW males, you want to have as little red lacing on the breast feathers as possible. I don't remember why but I do remember that.

God Bless,

He is handsome and gentle, we call him Little boy Blue.

So.... I can use him with my Marans and Welsummer and make some beautiful OEs. ???
