Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

Yes- I personally think Splash wheatens are the best for making OEs.

Maybe ya'll can help me out? When she was a chick and just feathering in someone suggested she might be a sport because she's so light. I do have one splash wheaten cockerel from this group so my question is, is she a splash wheaten? I've only ever seen splash wheaten roos. she looks white in the pics but she has smudges of very light buff color throughout the white

One of our newest editions is a Blue Wheaton Ameraucana. She seems to be a very nice bird, probably about 18 weeks.

We also picked up a Blue Ameraucana, almost black from the same breeder. My daughter wanted some colored eggs.

I think the breeder might have mislead you or maybe they don't know the difference, but your pullet is an easter egger, not an ameraucana. it doesn't have a beard and isn't a recognized color. she'll probably lay you some nice green eggs though

The Splash Wheaten - Are you sure his beard wasn't pulled out? I see bear skin with feather shafts where a beard should be. My BW cockerel got a shave from his girls and his "chin" looked like that for awhile. Well, it still kind of does. He has stubble, lol, as it is growing back.

Teamsunbelt, as was said, she's not a blue wheaten. This is a blue wheaten (on the right):

The picture is not the best - it was to dark at 4pm to be taking pictures. Not to mention cold and windy...
But, here's my first black Ameraucana hen!
