SpeckledHen you and your Ameraucanas helped get me bitten by the Ameraucana bug! Glad to see your pretty girls!
I have been lurking a LONG time due to the birth of my son (Good Lord, can he really have turned 1 on the 3rd?!?) but have managed to keep picking away at my Ameraucanas. I really love this breed... I get so much enjoyment from them, and hopefully my baby will too.
Anyways, my Lavs started laying a few months ago, so I have been setting every egg I could get my greedy little hands on. I've been super pleased with the results! My girls have great size and color, but 3 have serious comb issues. Egg color is Olive to turquiose, so I have my 2 best Black girls in there with my lav roo (good color, very nice comb, but a bit smallish) Maybe I'll be able to offer hathcing eggs in the future, for now I just keep picking away. I also recently purchased some nice girls and thier boyfriend who I think will compliment my birds nicely and vice nersa.
My BBS (technically Blue/Splash because I have a Splash Roo, though my eyes are always open for a superior black or blue roo to add as well) are just starting to get laying again since I "reorganized" them. I also have 4 pullets in there, so nice to see how they are maturing. Chicks seem on the smaller side, but I did set some smaller more pullety type eggs, , but well see how it goes.
Anddd.... not to jinx myself but it looks like I will be taking on a small Silver flock. REALLY excited! I've been admiring this color for quite a while, but have been rather intimidated by it. I've been dong all the reading I can, and would love to know if we have any Silver experts here that I could bother when I have questions? They are LF.
Need to get new photos of everyone but the whole place is a mud hole and the "inside" pics I took don't do anyone justice. I still have quite a few of Henry's birds as well (the 2 great black in the Lav pen are from him
).
