Can't help how he is. He had a pretty rough start in life so I wonder if that would affect him. Sorry that he shouldn't look like what he should can't help that.

All I wanted to know if he's ameraucana that's all.

I know a lot of you have the best intentions and I'm glad that you do. I can't help how he is

I think he's just taking his time growing

He's a sweet bird. I know I asked for opinions so I'm not complaining or getting mad.

I know he's not show quality so I don't expect him to be beautiful when he gets bigger. i know he's not an Easter Egger cause when he was a chick his feet and legs were pink and now they are black.. First time having an Ameraucana so

All life grow at their own rhythm and time. The weather in Hawaii is more gentle than in Montana and like you said, bantiehen, you little bird had a rough start. Keep up the good work and post pictures later when your black cockerel has grown up to be handsome.

I am so sorry, wasn't trying to make you feel bad. Just trying to show you a reference for what a 4 month old might look like. My birds are far from show quality and I am a beginner at ameraucanas as well. This poor guy pictured is actually gone now. Dogs got to him. He was my favorite of course. But I have 2 more black cockerels that look about the same.
I was just wondering if your little guy is really a black ameraucana. Like I said I am no expert.

My first lavender cuckoo has hatched, and it has slate legs! There are some crazy things popping out of these eggs. Have to wait til tomorrow for pics because I don't want to shrink-wrap any chicks.

Fingers crossed for more lavs!!!

Thanks guys! There is one regular cuckoo hatched too, and then a couple oddballs. The next set of eggs is all from a single lav hen so if they do well I should get a higher percentage of lavender. Merry Christmas to me! lol!

My Gypsy is 4 years old and finally fully feathered again. I love this hen to pieces and I hate to think how old she's getting now. She hasn't laid in awhile due to her molt, but I expect those pretty greenish-blue eggs again soon. She's such a love, this one. I still have the splash, Snow, and her blue sister, Nora, though we lost Gypsy's mother, Charlotte. not long ago. I miss that hen so much. I sure have enjoyed my BBS Ameraucanas.

In the second picture, the blue barred EE is Gypsy's half sister, Riley-same mother, but Barred Rock sire.

SpeckledHen you and your Ameraucanas helped get me bitten by the Ameraucana bug! Glad to see your pretty girls!

I have been lurking a LONG time due to the birth of my son (Good Lord, can he really have turned 1 on the 3rd?!?) but have managed to keep picking away at my Ameraucanas. I really love this breed... I get so much enjoyment from them, and hopefully my baby will too.

Anyways, my Lavs started laying a few months ago, so I have been setting every egg I could get my greedy little hands on. I've been super pleased with the results! My girls have great size and color, but 3 have serious comb issues. Egg color is Olive to turquiose, so I have my 2 best Black girls in there with my lav roo (good color, very nice comb, but a bit smallish) Maybe I'll be able to offer hathcing eggs in the future, for now I just keep picking away. I also recently purchased some nice girls and thier boyfriend who I think will compliment my birds nicely and vice nersa.

My BBS (technically Blue/Splash because I have a Splash Roo, though my eyes are always open for a superior black or blue roo to add as well) are just starting to get laying again since I "reorganized" them. I also have 4 pullets in there, so nice to see how they are maturing. Chicks seem on the smaller side, but I did set some smaller more pullety type eggs, , but well see how it goes.

Anddd.... not to jinx myself but it looks like I will be taking on a small Silver flock. REALLY excited! I've been admiring this color for quite a while, but have been rather intimidated by it. I've been dong all the reading I can, and would love to know if we have any Silver experts here that I could bother when I have questions? They are LF.

Need to get new photos of everyone but the whole place is a mud hole and the "inside" pics I took don't do anyone justice. I still have quite a few of Henry's birds as well (the 2 great black in the Lav pen are from him
