I wanted to share some pictures of my Christmas chicks. This is the second hatch for me for the 2012 breeding season. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far! Most are offspring of the Smith splits I made last spring. I think it's important to keep going back to good pure blacks at this point of development in the lavender variety.

This lavender cockerel is the sire of most of the chicks. He is producing fast feathered offspring for me and the majority of my keepers this season will be from him.

Monday I'll be taking Junior (BWA) & Fred (SWA) both sons of Geoffrey to Dr. Anderson in Mesa for their pre-surgical appointment to have them de-crowed. It's NOT cheap. But I'll still be able to continue as a member of the ABC.

Crystal Creek, I love that second to last picture of the one chick! SO fluffy, and the brown carpet really makes the lavender color "pop."

Looking good! I finally got rid of that slow feathering gene as well. And the tiny eggs!! Still having some issues here with the Smith splits' egg color, but type is good.
