Ameraucana thread for posting pictures and discussing our birds

This guy got out of his pen one day last week and was running the edge of the woods. When I tried to hem him up and catch him, he''d slip back into the woods. As soon as I walked back to the house, he came out and jumped on the tote and crowed at me (like HaHaHaHaaa).

What is the ultimate goal for crossing them? How many generations to get X ?

Lavender (isabel) Wheaten. It will take 2 generations to get what you're generally looking for, probably 4 to perfect it. I believe Chickenstalker right now has some actual Lavender Wheatens but is also still working with splits, possibly both in the black w/leakage sense and also in the pure Wheaten, split Lav sense.

S/he showed some photos earlier of a young Lav Wheaten cockerel, looking pretty so far but I can't wait to see photos of a full grown. The bird will look sort of like a Porcelain d'Uccle in color but imagine the breast solid lavender, the hackle, saddle, wings a very pale creamy yellow. Females will be a pale creamy yellow and white with lavender tail.

My hens are not even thinking of laying. lol
Well.... I take that back. Look what I came home to today!!

Could be any one of 4 pullets. I found the egg sitting next to the water dish. I put a nest box in and all 4 girls were very curious about it so I am gonna have to watch them close. The little egg is so cute! It looked like a little turquoise gem sitting there!
